RELEASE: The Podesta Emails Part 31 #PodestaEmails #PodestaEmails31 #HillaryClinton #imWithHer
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) November 5, 2016

With just two days until the election, WikiLeaks unveiled Part 31 of Podesta Email party moments ago which revealed another 2,574 emails, bringing the total to 50,408.
At first glance, we get more of the same, with more evidence of conflicts of interest, at the Clinton foundation, a request by Colin Powell not to be involved in the Clinton campaign (it was ignored), more collusion with the media, more scheming how to bring down Bernie Sanders and so on.
As usual we are parsing through the latest release and will bring readers the more notable emails.

In the earlier disclosure, we got more of the same, with more evidence of conflicts of interest, at the Clinton foundation, a request by Colin Powell not to be involved in the Clinton campaign (it was ignored), more collusion with the media, more scheming how to bring down Bernie Sanders and so on.
As usual we are parsing through the latest release and will bring readers the more notable emails.

Trump vs. Clinton: The Eccentric Billionaire vs The Sociopathic Criminal

Below is a guest post from my colleague, who requested anonymity. 12 years ago, a friend of mine and I both agreed that – and this was after Enron, 9/11 and Colin Powell’s self-admitted lies about Iraq which were used to justify a military overthrow of the Hussein Government – that we would eventually see things occur in this country that would blow our minds (as if those three events were relatively ‘non-events). I can say with complete sincerity that two things completely blow my mind now: 1) the degree to which corruption and criminality have completely enveloped our economic, financial and Governmental system and 2) the fact that a criminal – with plenty of hacked emails on display to prove certain acts of criminality – is permitted to run for President.
I am a casual observer having learned that when all you are left with is hope, it’s thatmoment you realize it’s over – whether it’s a game, investing, politics, etc. Unfortunately I reached that point many years ago with the state of politics and mainstream media’s (MSM) blatant biases towards…..well everything they touch. Last night’s Presidential Debate (sic) clearly reinforces my position that all we are left with is hope. Hope that things cannot get worse, hope that eventually things get better, hope that this is not simply a horrific Orwellian Nightmare, although the latter appears to be where we’ve arrived full frontal. I didn’t watch the debate looking for my opinion of the ‘candidates’ to change as I have zero plans to vote in this election. Yes, we’ve devolved to that point in history. I watched the debate for the same reason most people would watch a NASCAR race: waiting to see a wreck.
In attempting to summarize the spectacle from last evening, the first thought I had is ‘if aliens were watching from their spaceship what would they be thinking?’

Generals Strangelove, Breedlove and the Washington Russophobes

The Roman republic began its descent into empire as victorious generals – starting with one Julius Caesar – returned to claim the fruits of their victories, their final conquest being the republic itself. ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ has today become a phrase meaning an event that cannot be undone, usually of ominous portent, and surely this applies to the machinations of one General Philip Breedlove, former Supreme Commander of NATO.
Revealed by hackers who broke into his email accounts, Breedlove’s plot to start World War III with Russia recalls the recklessness of Dr. Strangelove in a movie of the same name – except this isn’t a movie, it’s reality.
Coordinating with sympathetic retired military personnel, such as Wesley Clark, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Harlan Ullman, a top official of the Atlantic Council, the idea was – as Ullman put it – to ‘leverage, cajole, convince or coerce the U. S. to react’ to an alleged Russian threat in Europe. Another academic contact, one Phillip Karber, head of the neoconservative Potomac Foundation, was involved in disseminating a crude forgery supposed to have depicted Russian tanks in Ukraine. Naturally, theWashington Free Beacon fell for it, as did Sen. James Inhofe. Confirmation bias is pandemic in these circles.
Breedlove has himself been at the center of similar hoaxes, claiming that tens of thousands of Russian troops are present in Ukraine, armed to the teeth with the latest advanced weaponry: this was an outright lie, as the German intelligence agency, the BND, pointed out.

Hillary on the Ropes

Late last week, the inspector general of the State Department completed a yearlong investigation into the use by Hillary Clinton of a private email server for all of her official government email as secretary of state. The investigation was launched when information technology officials at the State Department under Secretary of State John Kerry learned that Clinton paid an aide to migrate her public and secret State Department email streams away from their secured government venues and onto her own, non-secure server, which was stored in her home.
The migration of the secret email stream most likely constituted the crime of espionage – the failure to secure and preserve the secrecy of confidential, secret or top-secret materials.
The inspector general interviewed Clinton’s three immediate predecessors – Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice – and their former aides about their email practices. He learned that none of them used emails as extensively as Clinton, none used a private server and, though Powell and Rice occasionally replied to government emails using private accounts, none used a private account when dealing with state secrets.
Clinton and her former aides declined to cooperate with the inspector general, notwithstanding her oft-stated claim that she ‘can’t wait’ to meet with officials and clear the air about her emails.

Comrade Michael Rubin Demands Gulag for Col. Wilkerson

As a committed and unapologetic neocon, Michael Rubin loves the idea of the old purges once common practice under his ideological forebears in the Soviet Union. The details of the infraction were unimportant – and to even consider the need for details once the Party has spoken was to court suspicion.
So Comrade Rubin is demanding a thorough denunciation of Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief-of-staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell (and academic advisor to the Ron Paul Institute). Rubin took to the website of his luxurious neocon Beltway sinecure, the American Enterprise Institute, to call for Wilkerson’s deportation to the gulag for severe ideological deviationism.
What was Wilkerson’s crime? Rubin first loosens up the crowd with some guilt-by-association accusations, the stock-in-trade of the neocons. Rubin begins by bringing up what he views as Donald Trump’s too-slow disassociation of himself from the KKK. ‘Unfortunately, wavering and silence in the face of hate isn’t new,’ he continues.
But Trump’s crimes pale in comparison to those of Wilkerson, the think tank keyboard warrior explains. Lawrence Wilkerson ‘has increasingly descended into a fevered swamp of conspiracy and hate,’ writes Rubin.
Has Wilkerson joined the KKK? Has Wilkerson joined the skinheads? Has Wilkerson joined the US-backed Ukrainian neo-Nazi government?

Criminal Acts of Presidents and Prime Ministers are Wiped Clean with Each Election by Jason Liosatos

Every time a presidency, prime ministership or government in the West changes hands, it seems as though all of the previous acts of murder and corruption are wiped clean.
Amnesia prevails, and there is a forgetting of the previous criminal activities and crimes against humanity. The change in leadership has the effect of sweeping under the rug the war crimes, lies, deceptions, and other illegal and immoral acts of the previous regime, whose members depart in good standing as if they are innocent of any crimes. We even have the temerity of former UK prime minister Tony Blair, who enabled the destruction of Iraq, being appointed Middle East Peace Envoy.
Tony Blair, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, Nicolas Sarkozy, Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton have walked away, and now David Cameron, Obama, Merkel and Hollande are walking away from mass murders and unspeakable damage to people, cultures and the planet without a trial or any accountability.
In contrast, Saddam Hussein and Gadaffi were murdered without a trial on the basis of propagandistic assertions. This must change, and the Western criminals must be held accountable for their outrageous crimes.

Lawrence Wilkerson: “The American ‘Empire’ Is In Deep, Deep Trouble”

Former US army colonel and Chief of Staff for Colin Powell, Lawrence Wilkerson unleashed a most prescient speech on the demise of the United States Empire.
As Naked Capitalism’s Yves Smith notes, Wilkerson describes the path of empires in decline and shows how the US is following the classic trajectory. He contends that the US needs to make a transition to being one of many powers and focus more on strategies of international cooperation.
The video is full of rich historical detail and terrific, if sobering, nuggets, such as:
“History tells us we’re probably finished. The rest of of the world is awakening to the fact that the United States is 1) strategically inept and 2) not the power it used to be. And that the trend is to increase that.”
Wilkerson includes in his talk not just the way that the US projects power abroad, but internal symptoms of decline, such as concentration of wealth and power, corruption and the disproportionate role of financial interests.
